
The Westmount Piano Studio is a unique creative environment where teachers and students of all ages collaborate in the joy of making music.
The emphasis is on developing skill while nurturing creativity in a process that is customized to the student’s personal interests and motivations.
(12 – 36 months)
A special class designed for you and your child which will enhance their natural response to music through song, movement and play.
These small group lessons for 3-4 year olds are designed to introduce music through an interactive and joyful experience. Using improvisation, story-telling, movement, singing, percussion instruments as well as the piano, young children will have the opportunity to play with the essential elements of music-making.
Students meet in groups to perform for each other (December)
Formal performance for family and friends (June)
(Ages 6-9 years and 10 and up)
In these small choral groups children will experience the pleasure of singing together. Young voices are treated with care while exploring a wide variety of repertoire. The choir will perform at the end of the year concert.
Interested singers will be placed into ensembles (trios, quartets etc.) to work on a variety of repertoire. Works studied will be performed at the end of the year. Reading music is an asset however not a requirement.
(Ages 7-10 years and 11 and up)
Theory 1:
Theory is an essential part of a musical
education. Through a creative and interactive process this class introduces your child to the basics of musical notation, rhythm and aural skills.
Theory 2
Evening theory classes for adults.
